The buzzword for Tarrant County commercial real estate sectors in 2009 was tough, and if the slow start to the year is any indication of what lies ahead, market professionals are prepared to upgrade that to tougher in 2010."Not much new development is going to occur," said Ben Loughry, managing partner of Integra Realty Resources in Dallas-Fort Worth. "There certainly are opportunities and safe havens, but the key to real estate deals is doing extensive due diligence. Times are tough."
Loughry was one of six market experts speaking before more than 600 real estate and other business professionals at the 2010 Tarrant County Commercial Real Estate Forecast at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Certainly there have been more upbeat predictions for the local market in the 21 years the forecast has been held. The sole bright spot might be demand from grocers looking for more space, including Aldi, a German company moving into North Texas.
