GRANDVIEW, TX -- The City of Grandview is launching its new downtown entertainment venue, FireFly Stage in Grandview, with a series of six free concerts featuring popular contemporary Texas bands and high-profile country-and-western and country-rock stars.

The concert series will begin on Saturday, Sept. 22, at FireFly Stage, 301 East Criner Street, in downtown Grandview. All concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. on FireFly Stage each Saturday through Oct. 27.

Anyone interested in more information can visit www.fireflystage.com.

The free concerts open with one of North Texas’ most popular regional country rockers, Charlie Robison. The singer-songwriter will play many of the hits that have made him a crowd favorite, including songs off of his latest album, Beautiful Day.

The concert series also features:

• Billy Jo Shaver – Saturday, Sept. 29

• Gary P. Nunn – Saturday, Oct. 6

• Rodney Parker - Saturday, Oct. 13

• The Ryan Hurt Band – Saturday Oct. 20

• Tommy Alverson – Saturday, Oct. 27

Billed as “The Original Honky Tonk Hero,” Billy Joe Shaver brings a lifetime of country rock and blues to his performances. A rough-cut Texas music icon, Shaver will mix his most-popular hits with new songs and many of the little-known favorites that have made him a cult favorite on Texas’ music scene.

For more than 40 years, Gary P. Nunn has been a staple on the Texas music For For more than 40 years, Gary P. Nunn has been a staple on the Texas music landscape. In 2007, Nunn was named “The Music Ambassador of Texas” by Texas Governor Rick Perry. In 2004, he was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame as one of the state’s greatest musicians. Nunn is known for the “I Want To Go Home to the Armadillo” chorus of his internationally famous London Homesick Blues song. The chorus has become the signature theme of the PBS concert TV series, Austin City Limits.

Rodney Parker and the 50 Peso Reward Band are long-time stars of the Texas country-rock scene. A hard-driving band noted for its high-energy music and concerts, Rodney Parker and the 50 Peso Reward Band are ranked among the leading bands in the state’s growing Texas Red Dirt music scene.

The Ryan Hurt Band is a group of regional musicians who have become very popular for their amazing renditions of classic country tunes. The band plays the hits of established music icons like Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Willy Nelson.

Tommy Alverson mixes music from all parts of the State’s heritage into his songs. From classic Texas country to Western swing to Tex-Mex stompin’ music, Alverson puts a lifetime of joy and trouble in his songs. In addition to his all-time hits and favorites, Alverson will feature several songs from his new CD, Texas One More Time.

“This is a great way to kick off all of the exciting activities that are going to be happening at FireFly Stage,” said Travis Buck, Mayor of Grandview. “We have a beautiful venue for all types of concerts, performances and civic events. It is going to be  a great addition to the City’s downtown area and a strong regional attraction for exceptional entertainment."
